Yin-Yang Mountain

The Yin-Yang Mountain Scenic Area is located in Jiangzhou Village, in the southern part of Fengshan County, Hechi City, Guangxi. It is 35 kilometers from the county seat, 340 kilometers from Nanning, and 180 kilometers from Hechi City. The area is accessible via highways from both Nanning and Hechi to Fengshan. The scenic features developed within the light grey medium- to thick-layered bioclastic limestone of the Carboniferous Huanglong and Maping formations, and are karst-shaped rock formations, also known as Mandarin Duck Mountain. It consists of Yang Mountain, Yin Cave, and the Dongni Great Depression below them, with an elevation of about 540 meters. Yang Mountain is situated on the mountainside along the Fengshan–Jiangzhou Highway at the southeastern corner of the Dongni Depression. Its shape is columnar, resembling an upright male organ, with a base diameter of 100 meters × 150 meters and a base elevation of 625 meters. The diameter gradually decreases with height, and its relative elevation is 171.9 meters. Yin Cave is located on the sheer cliff of a 150-meter-high small peak on the western side of the Dongni Great Depression. It resembles a female form, with the cave opening at about half the height of the peak, in a fissure-like shape, facing Yang Mountain across the Dongni Great Depression. These are karst-shaped rock formations formed through the long-term dissolution and erosion of soluble carbonate rocks by rainwater, combined with biological activity.
