The Red Army Rock Scenic Area is situated 5 kilometers south of the county town within Fengshan County’s Karst National Geological Park and was the location of the Soviet government during the revolutionary era in Fengshan. Following the founding of the Youjiang Soviet Government in 1930, the Fengshan County Soviet Government was established soon after, with Chairman Huang Songjian leading the people of Fengshan in the land revolution. Hengli Red Army Rock is a significant revolutionary site that had a profound impact on the history of the revolution in Guangxi, and it is displayed as an important cultural relic in both the Guangxi Archives and the Baise Uprising Memorial Hall. In early 1931, after the main forces of the Red Army moved northward, over 100 Red Army soldiers and Red Guards who remained stationed at the Soviet government site in Hengli Tun, along with more than 1,100 revolutionary civilians, retreated to a large cave halfway up the mountainside across the river from Hengli Tun under the leadership of Company Commander Huang Dechang. They held their ground there to tie down enemy forces until November 23. On that day, the enemy breached Hengli Rock. During the nearly year-long anti-siege battle at Hengli Rock, a total of 374 Red Army soldiers, Red Guards, and Hengli revolutionary civilians lost their lives. Remains of Red Army soldiers can still be found in Red Army Rock today.

From atop Red Army Rock, visitors can gaze out at a landscape of competing peaks. Looking down, one sees a patchwork of fields and villages; during harvest season, golden expanses create a spectacular sight. A newly discovered cave in the scenic area features spectacular stalactites in grand, varied, and richly textured formations. Calcium salt crystals form a silvery pathway that glows brilliantly under the lights, making for a cave landscape of extremely high aesthetic value. The area also boasts some of the largest plains and peak clusters in Fengshan. The Qiaoyin River winds like a jade ribbon along the mountain base, complementing the area's mountains, caves, and plains. When autumn arrives, the landscape turns golden, resembling a naturally formed masterpiece. The scenic area seamlessly integrates red tourism culture with natural scenery and local ethnic customs, enhancing its charm and enriching the visitor experience. It is a truly beautiful and sacred place.
