Danzhou Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The ancient county town on the island—Danzhou Scenic Area in Sanjiang, Guangxi—is renowned as a place where “every household has a potted landscape and every home displays unique rocks.” Recently, with birds chirping and flowers blooming, it has attracted countless visitors for leisure and flower appreciation.

Danzhou Scenic Area is located beside National Highway 209 at the junction of Sanjiang, Rong’an, and Rongshui counties, situated on a small island surrounded by water in the Rong River. It was the site of the ancient county town of Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County during the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods. Today, it still preserves well-known attractions such as the Danzhou Academy, a key cultural relic protection unit of Guangxi from the Ming Dynasty, the Minyue Guild Hall, the East Gate Tower, the North Gate Tower, the ancient city walls, and the stone map of Huaiyuan County. During the War of Resistance against Japan, numerous scholars, experts, and literati—including sociological master Fei Xiaotong and famous writer Lu Yan—gathered in Danzhou, making it a prominent cultural hub at the time.

Danzhou Scenic Area mainly focuses on leisure vacationing and eco-historic tourism. The front and backyards of rural guesthouses are planted with exotic flowers and plants, creating an elegant and pleasant atmosphere. Each household enjoys collecting unique rocks and cultivating potted plants. The area boasts simple and honest folk customs, where “no one picks up lost items on the road and no one locks their doors at night,” making it a modern-day “Shangri-La.” There are 90 rural guesthouses in the scenic area with over 2,000 beds, and more than 8,000 pomelo trees covering over 500 acres, earning it the true title of the “Pomelo Capital.”

Danzhou Scenic Area is a national agricultural tourism demonstration site, an ecological ancient town tourism village in Guangxi, a model village for dual civilization, sanitation, and drug-free public security in Guangxi, and one of Liuzhou’s “Top Ten Beautiful Villages.” It has now become a sacred destination for countless self-driving tourists from Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Guangdong.
