Heping Township is located in the southeastern part of Sanjiang County, 39 kilometers from the county seat, Guyi Town. Heping Township is a newly established township founded in 1987. It governs 5 village committees, 44 natural villages, 72 villager groups, 1,890 households, and 7,640 people, home to five ethnic groups including Zhuang, Han, Yao, and Dong. Among them, the Zhuang ethnic group accounts for over 90%, making it the “Zhuang Homeland” of Sanjiang County.

The total area of the township is 118.25 square kilometers, including 12,880 mu of arable land, 3,905 mu of paddy fields, and 103,840 mu of forested area, with a forest coverage rate of 80%. The township also has 12,000 mu of bamboo forests. With its abundant primeval forests and bamboo resources, Heping Township has become one of the county’s key forestry bases and is recognized as the most advantageous and promising area for forest eco-tourism.

All villages in Heping Township are connected by rural roads. The road from Heping to Liuxi passes through Danzhou and connects to National Highway 209, providing very convenient transportation. Electricity is available in every village. A 350-kilovolt substation has been built, offering stable power supply for the development of the bamboo and timber processing industry. The township has 350 wood product processing factories (including family workshops), producing and processing products such as plywood, squared timbers, wood strips, and furniture. There are also 61 bamboo product processing factories, manufacturing items like bamboo chopsticks, bamboo curtains, and bamboo mats.

Heping Township boasts rich eco-tourism resources, including primeval forests, the gentle rustling of bamboo groves, uniquely secluded caves, thrilling yet safe eco-drifting experiences, beautiful and dynamic waterfalls, as well as distinctive local customs. Currently, the primeval forests, lush bamboo woods, the karst caves of Liuxi, the eco-drifting at Damingtan in Dazhai, the waterfalls in Banliu, and the local tradition of inviting guests to take a “Bangtong Liang” (herbal bath) have all become excellent foundations for developing eco-tourism in Heping Township.
