Shimenchong is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Shimenchong Scenic Area is located in Danzhou Town, Sanjiang County, 35 kilometers from the county seat of Sanjiang and 167 kilometers from downtown Liuzhou. The scenic area is primarily an ecotourism destination centered around a cluster of waterfalls, characterized by its uniqueness, beauty, and charm. It embodies the essence of pristine, untouched, and authentic nature. As you walk along the stream, you’ll encounter several cascading waterfalls of varying heights and sizes, with drops ranging from 20 to 90 meters. The streams and pools are perfect for swimming, making it a heavenly paradise described as “a thousand-year-old trees serving as hangers and miles of stone gates as bathtubs.”

The total planned area of the scenic zone is over 5,230 acres, with well-preserved natural ecology. It is home to more than 60 types of nationally protected rare plants, including horse hoof rice, nanmu wood, Alsophila spinulosa, red bean trees, and orchids. Over 60 species of rare wild animals such as wild boars, muntjacs, pheasants, rabbits, owl-faced owls, golden pheasants, and giant salamanders often roam the forests. As you enter the scenic area, you’ll be greeted by serene valleys, towering ancient trees, steep cliffs, and clusters of waterfalls. Two streams originating from the primeval forest meander like ribbons, with crystal-clear springs flowing gently amid rustling grass and the harmonious chirping of birds and fluttering butterflies. The tranquil streams sometimes resemble graceful fairies combing their long hair, and at other times, energetic youths dashing forward and leaping down... forming over 20 large and small waterfall clusters, with the highest nearly 80 meters and the lowest over 10 meters. A 3-kilometer-long hiking adventure through the primeval forest takes you through ancient trees, entwined vines, and the sounds of birds and flowers, making it an unforgettable experience.
