Sanjiang Grand Auditorium

The Sanjiang Grand Auditorium is located on Jiangfeng Street, Hexi, Guyi Town, the county seat. It was first built in March 1952. Facing east and situated westward, it features a “工” (work) character layout, with the main body being a single-story brick-and-wood structure with flush gable roofs, while the southern and northern ends consist of horizontal brick-concrete buildings. The building covers a floor area of 1,697.44 square meters and has 1,096 seats.

The auditorium is the first and largest indoor venue in the county seat of Sanjiang County. It serves as an important site for various political and cultural events organized by government departments and the general public. Major political gatherings such as the First People’s Congress of All Ethnic Groups and Sectors in Sanjiang County, the Inaugural Meeting of the People’s Government of the Sanjiang Dong Autonomous Region (county-level), as well as successive sessions of the People’s Congress and the People’s Political Consultative Conference of the autonomous county, have all been held here.

Major political events such as the memorial service for Chairman Mao in 1976 and the rally celebrating the victory of crushing the “Gang of Four,” along with large-scale indoor cultural performances and song and dance competitions across the county, have also taken place here.

Since its construction, although more than half a century has passed, the overall structure of the auditorium remains intact. Thanks to multiple renovations, its appearance has been well preserved and its functionality continuously improved. The auditorium, which shares the same age as the autonomous county, has witnessed many significant historical events in the county since the establishment of the autonomous region.
