Sanjiang Pujie Bridge

Pujie Bridge — also known as Xiaomiao Bridge, was built during the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty (1505–1521) and has a history of over 500 years. It is the only bridge in the scenic area that preserves four religious elements: Guan Yu, the God of Literature, the Star of Literature (Kui Xing), and the Earth God. It connects Yanzhai and Dazhai, is over 50 meters long, and more than 4 meters wide. The main structure of the bridge consists of five sections and three tiers intersecting and joining together, using 135 vertical timber beams, among which the four “Earth Dragon Beams” at both ends have a diameter of up to 85 centimeters. The entire bridge is thoughtfully designed, not only aesthetically pleasing but also sturdy and durable. In the middle of the bridge, there are four shrine rooms, each enshrining the spirit tablets of Guan Yu, the God of Literature, the Star of Literature, and the Earth God, demonstrating that the Dong people’s wind-and-rain bridges are also bridges of culture.
