Sanjiang Chan Kou Scenic Area

The Sanjiang Chan Kou Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Sanjiang Chan Kou Scenic Area is world-renowned for its over 1,300-year-old “King of Ancient Banyans.” Revered as the “Tree God” that protects the village by local residents, villagers from Chan Kou and nearby hamlets adorn the “Tree God” with red ribbons during festivals and major events, and offer incense prayers under the banyan tree for peace, good fortune, and happiness. Even many foreign photographers have a special fondness for the “King of Ancient Banyans.”

Liao Juan, head of the Sanjiang Chengyang Bridge International Travel Agency, introduced that while visitors come to admire the “King of Ancient Banyans,” they can also enjoy Dong-style oil tea and experience the life of the Dong people. Next to the “King of Ancient Banyans” is the boat dock, where tourists can cruise along the Rongjiang River and take in the scenic views along both banks, as well as the local customs of the Dong ethnic group.

Not far from the Sanjiang Chan Kou Scenic Area lies Liangli New Village, located beside National Highway 321. It is reported that the Dong people from Liangli Tun, Nanzhai Village, Liangkou Township, previously lived on the steep mountainside of Guidouchong, where living conditions were harsh due to the rugged terrain. After relocating down the mountain, not only has transportation become much more convenient, but the availability of experiential tourism resources has also improved their living standards, enabling them to build new floors on their Dong-style houses one after another.

Liangli New Village, along with the “Three Kings Palace” from the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty and Renhe Bridge, now form a uniquely distinctive tourist route in Sanjiang County. Along this route, visitors can admire the unique Dong-style architecture that paints the landscape of Sanjiang County, taste authentic Dong oil tea, and even participate in traditional Dong activities such as pounding glutinous rice cakes, spinning yarn, and learning to weave… offering an immersive experience of the distinctive lifestyle of the Dong people.
