Laobutou Ancient Street and Historic Wharf are located in Laobutou Village, Caishi Town, Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, at the confluence of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers. Historically known as Tielu Bu, Xiang Kou, and Xiang Kou Guan, a town called Xiaoxiang Town was established here during the Tang and Five Dynasties period, and in the Ming Dynasty, it was changed to a courier station named Xiang Kou Yi, later referred to as Laobutou. One well-preserved ancient street still exists, stretching from south to north, paved with bluestone slabs or inlaid with river pebbles, with a total length of over 500 meters. There is one ancient wharf shaped like a zigzag, featuring more than 50 steps. Additionally, there are 23 ancient shops, which are Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. At the riverside ferry dock, there are four stone steles, one of which is an inscription for the reconstructed ferry dock: “The Xiao River flows from Jiuyi into Laobutou, ten li north of Yongzhou, where it meets the Xiang River, forming one of the most ancient and renowned areas. During the Five Dynasties, a town was established here called Xiaoxiang Town, and in the Ming Dynasty, it was turned into a courier station called Xiang Kou Yi. In front of the station, the two rivers stretch wide and deep, like a natural barrier, serving as a vital crossing for our region…”

In 2011, the People's Government of Hunan Province designated it as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit. It has now been submitted for recognition as a national key cultural relic protection site.
