No need to pay for hot springs or foot baths in Beitou and Yangmingshan — here’s your free hot spring guide

As temperatures drop across Taiwan, there's nothing quite like a hot soak in the cold winter months. Aside from luxurious onsen resorts, did you know that Taipei actually offers free public hot spring baths? ETtoday News Cloud recommends the “free foot spas” and “free hot spring pools” in Taipei’s hot spring hubs — Beitou and Yangmingshan. Enjoy the coziest winter experience without spending a dime.
Fuxing Park
Located near Xinbeitou MRT Station, Fuxing Park attracts many visitors for its foot soaking pools thanks to its convenient location and free access. The spring water here originates at around 70°C with a pH of 1.5, similar in quality to the green sulfur springs at Geothermal Valley — an “acidic chloride-sulfate spring.”

Quanyuan Park
About 15 minutes uphill from Fuxing Park, past residential areas and up a small slope, you’ll find Quanyuan Park. The atmosphere here is noticeably more tranquil. After walking through forest trails and climbing some stairs, you’ll reach the foot soaking area. The pools are smaller and less crowded than those in Fuxing Park, but the spring quality is the same.

Sulphur Valley Foot Bath Area
The Sulphur Valley Foot Bath Area is supplied with hot spring water by the Taipei Water Department. The source temperature is about 50°C with a pH of 5.0, classified as an “acidic sulfate spring,” commonly known as “white sulfur.” In addition to soaking your feet, you can also visit the nearby famous attraction, “Geothermal Valley,” to see its unique geothermal landscape.

Qianshan Park
Located in Yangmingshan, Qianshan Park features a spacious lake, bridges over flowing water, and plenty of greenery. In addition to several sulfur springs, the park also has separate men’s and women’s sulfur spring pools where the public can enjoy free hot spring baths. It’s a great place for a weekend stroll and relaxation.

Lengshuikeng Public Hot Spring Bathhouse
Besides its natural landscape trails, Lengshuikeng in Yangmingshan also features a free public hot spring bathhouse and foot soaking pools near the visitor service center, which are very popular with tourists. The hot spring water here is only around 40°C, cooler than other areas.

Opening hours: Daily from 9:00 to 16:30. Closed on the last Monday of each month (postponed by one day if it falls on a national holiday) and on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Take a foot soak at Lengshuikeng if you're tired from hiking.
