Dapeng Bay Unveils "Bay Loop Bicycle Path" – Cycle to Admire the Lake and Sunset Glow

Renowned for its unique natural oxbow lake scenery and ecological environment, Dapeng Bay has now developed a bay loop bicycle path suitable for cycling races, leisure activities, and environmental education. Among its highlights are the "Bicycle Path Landscape Bridge Pavilion," which offers views of wetland ecology, and the "Shared Water Intake Pool," perfect for sunset viewing—two of the most eye-catching recreational spots along the route.

The Bicycle Path Landscape Bridge Pavilion is located at the 11k+700 mark on Dapeng Bay’s main bay loop bicycle route, stretching 35 meters in length. Due to the numerous ecological wetlands and large drainage ditches around Dapeng Bay, a dedicated bridge for cyclists and pedestrians was constructed. With its cool, double-sloped, translucent roof and V-shaped wooden louvers along the corridor, the structure resembles a long pavilion spanning the bridge, earning it the nickname "bridge pavilion" among visitors.

In the past, residents around Dapeng Bay mostly relied on fish farming and aquaculture. Household water intake pipes crisscrossed the ground, creating visual clutter and management challenges. After coordinated planning, the pipelines were reorganized and consolidated into a shared water intake pool, which also serves as one of the best spots to watch the sunset over Dapeng Bay.

To better align these two attractions with Dapeng Bay’s tourism and cultural character, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area launched a naming contest, inviting netizens to contribute creative name ideas. Entries can be submitted until 4:00 PM on September 30 via theDapeng Bay National Scenic Area event website. Winners will receive a cash prize of NT$10,000 each.
