The Wang Family Ancestral Hall in Yongzhou

The Wang Family Ancestral Hall is a protected cultural heritage site of Hunan Province.

The Wang Family Ancestral Hall was built in the tenth year of the Xianfeng reign during the Qing Dynasty, which is 1860 AD, making it 151 years old to date. The hall features a brick-and-wood structure, faces east with its back to the west, and currently includes a stage, viewing pavilion, covered walkway, main halls, and a series of wing rooms on the southern side. The overall layout fully reflects the traditional characteristics of residential architecture in southern Hunan, the construction techniques reflect the unique stylistic identity of Yongzhou’s ancestral temple culture, the decorative artistry highlights the distinctive folk craftsmanship of Lengshuitan, and the entire complex is exceptionally well-preserved, remaining in continuous use and heritage to this very day.
