Tianwang Temple Scenic Area

Tianwang Temple Scenic Area is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Yanmen Tianwang Temple Scenic Area is situated on Lingwang Mountain beside National Highway 209, six kilometers southwest of the county town. To its north is a hundred-meter-high cliff. It overlooks a deep pool, while to the east, south, and west, rolling hills and mountains stretch out as far as the eye can see. A tree-lined path leads directly up to Lingwang Mountain. Gazing into the dense forests in the distance, wisps of mist rise slowly, with light smoke curling upward, like a mirage, like a fairyland.

Upon approaching, you’ll see red walls, green tiles, upturned eaves, grand ridges, exquisitely painted beams and flying rafters. The architecture is unique, the scenery picturesque, and the landscape beautiful, making it a scenic highlight of the Miao region in western Hunan. The Heavenly King Bodhisattva holds a revered place in the hearts of the Miao people. Their magical legends are widely told among the folk of western Hunan.

Other recreational facilities at Lingshan Park, such as rock climbing and water sports, are currently under planning and development. On April 4, 2003, the first Mayang Folk Culture and Miao Village Tourism Festival was successfully held here.
