Japan’s snow huts come to Taiwan: A gratitude festival from six Tohoku prefectures

This year, not only will traditional performances from Japan’s Tohoku region bring the atmosphere to life, but the organizers have also brought the snow huts from the Akita Snow Festival to Taiwan for the first time, allowing the public to see the dreamy and adorable snow huts of the snow country. Limited-edition cute tattoo stickers will also be given out on-site.

The Japan Tohoku Play Day features multiple free traditional craft experiences where the public can not only try their hand at Japanese handicrafts but also take their completed creations home. Beyond fun activities, the six Tohoku prefectures offer tastings of 60 varieties of local Tohoku sake and a rich selection of Tohoku regional delicacies, including Inaniwa udon—one of Japan’s three great udon types—melt-in-your-mouth Iwate scallops, and Grandma Rose’s bubble waffles, among other must-try treats.
