Jinjiang Academy is located in Jinhe Town. Established in the early Qing Dynasty, this ancient building was reconstructed in the 42nd year of the Qianlong reign (1777), covering an area of 1,950 square meters. It originally included a three-bay main gate, a three-bay ceremonial gate, a three-bay lecture hall, a three-bay rear hall, as well as twelve bays each for the east and west study halls. The complex also featured a Confucius Temple, a Pan Pond, and a Zhuangyuan Bridge. The academy was a place where scholars and talented individuals gathered at the time. In 1911, the academy was converted into Majiang County’s First Higher Primary School; in 1937, when the War of Resistance against Japan broke out, National Eighth Middle School relocated from Anhui to Majiang, and Jinjiang Academy became its campus. After the liberation, the government opened the only middle school in Majiang here, which is the predecessor of today’s Majiang No. 1 Middle School. For over two hundred years, especially in the early 20th century, Jinjiang Academy trained a large number of talents for China’s revolution (the photo shows the passageway hall of the Confucius Temple).
