Yiyang Beifengshan Forest Park

Introduction

Beifengshan Forest Park is situated in the southeastern part of Taishan City, a hometown of overseas Chinese, within the rugged ranges of Gudou Mountain and right next to the Gudou Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve. Located 12 kilometers from the city center, it connects with Taicheng Shihua Mountain—one of the Top 100 Scenic Spots in Southern Guangdong—and Beifengshan Shipi Pool—one of the Eight Ancient Scenic Spots of Taishan—to create a unique green ecological tourism landscape in the Taishan region.

The park covers a total operating area of 15,000 mu. According to preliminary surveys by forestry experts, there are 986 species of vascular plants in the park, including 14 types of rare and endangered plants under national protection such as wild lychee, wild tea trees, and four-medicine gate flowers. There are also 22 species of rare and endangered animals under national protection, among which two are Class I protected animals: the python and the Chinese three-striped box turtle. The park’s main peak, Ping Shen Peak, stands at an elevation of 922 meters and resembles Japan’s Mount Fuji in shape.
