These three buildings are typical examples of modern architecture. It was once rumored that their designer was Mr. Liang Sicheng, but in fact, all three buildings are “products of Wuhan,” designed by the Second Design Office of Central-South China Architectural Design Institute, though they exhibit a clear imitation of the Liang Sicheng style.

The roofs of the School of Chinese Language and Literature and the School of History and Culture feature triangular structural supports, with eaves angled approximately 30 to 45 degrees. The largest angle is inlaid with triangular hardwood, combining practicality with aesthetic design. In addition, the classical Chinese patterns on the lintels, spandrels, and window sills are exquisitely detailed, showcasing a simple yet elegant beauty.

As one of the earliest university dormitories built in Wuhan after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Dormitory Building No. 6 in the West Campus features architectural styles and construction techniques of both artistic and research value, serving as a witness to the transformation of modern higher education institutional architecture.

According to experts, the historical value of the six dormitory buildings lies in their classic Chinese architectural style, exquisite craftsmanship, and humanistic atmosphere.
