Jinniaoling Scenic Area

Jinniaoling Scenic Area is part of the Taihang Mountain National Macaque Nature Reserve. It boasts boundless landscapes and lush vegetation, forming a rare green corridor in the southern Taihang Mountains of northern Henan. The area is home to numerous rare animals and plants, with exotic flowers and plants spread throughout. It also features tens of thousands of acres of planted pine forests, making it the best place in Jiaozuo to view the autumn red leaves of the Taihang Mountains. The red leaf area in Jinniaoling is vast, with nearly 100,000 acres of contiguous crimson leaves covering the region.

The red leaves span 3,868 peaks, ridges, valleys, and cliffs; the hues are vivid—from bright reds that are almost dewy, to deep reds as brilliant as sunset clouds, to purples that shimmer with radiant light. The variety of red leaves is rich, including the luminous maple-like leaves of the south, the fiery red maples of the north, and even the 2,500-year-old "King of Yellowhorn Trees." The types are comprehensive, blending characteristics from both southern and northern regions. The red leaves are highly photogenic—some resemble charming young girls, some like brides ready for their wedding day, others like graceful and elegant noblewomen, or even amiable elderly with rosy complexions. Scenes such as “Drunken Concubine,” “Xi Shi Washing Silk,” and “Flying Swallow Dancing Alone” take on countless forms, all breathtaking and uplifting. Here, you can admire the beauty of the mountain ranges, experience the thrill of the Sky Bridge, stroll through the serene pine forest paths, listen to the rustling of pine waves, and feel the cool breeze.
