Emei Mountain Wenbi Peak

Wenbi Peak is located at the highest point in the middle section of Emei Mountain's ridge. Also known as "Wenfeng Bi" (Literary Peak Brush), it is commonly called "Momo Ding" (Steamed Bun Top) by locals and was first built during the Ming Dynasty. The reconstructed Wenbi Peak stands tall and majestic, resembling a giant brush pointing straight toward the sky when viewed from afar. The *Yan Shen Xu Zhi* (Continued Chronicles of Yan Shen), Volume 4, *Officials*, records: "Xu Xilong, a native of Zhejiang, was a selected tribute student. In the 34th year of the Wanli era (1606 AD), he took office and built the Kui Tower and Wenbi Peak on Emei Ridge, demonstrating his refined intention to nurture talent." It also states: "(The Wenbi Peak) was initially a child’s play tower made of piled stones, three to four feet high. Later, as more scholars passed imperial exams, it came to be called Wenbi Peak." This documents the origin of Wenbi Peak and the construction date of the Kui Star Tower.
