Guta Scenic Area

The Guta Scenic Area is a tourist destination named after Jiaguta, centered around historical stories and legends. Covering an area of 264 hectares, Jiaguta is located 1.5 kilometers north of Shimen Village in Shimen Town. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, it is a renowned scenic spot in Boshan. The Guta site features three terraced platforms, each separated by steep cliffs, with grassy slopes in between. At the top of the cliff is a Qing Dynasty cliff inscription that reads “Jiaguta.”

Legend has it that Jiaguta was the site of the meeting between the states of Qi and Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period. This place was an important ancient transportation route, and its uniquely beautiful scenery has given rise to many captivating historical legends. In the old days, a blind storyteller would play his sanxian (a three-stringed instrument) and sing in a hoarse voice about the landscape and tales of this area, fascinating his listeners. Aside from its magnificent scenery and rich historical legends, the stone carving and engraving art of Shimen Town is also widely celebrated.
