The ruins of the Qi Great Wall at Yuanshan are the longest and most magnificent, stretching east to west across the scenic area. The winding city walls are perched atop the mountain ridges, lying like a dragon. The prototype of the legend of Meng Jiangnu weeping over the Great Wall originated here. According to research, the Qi Great Wall ruins meander for nearly 5 kilometers within the Yuanshan area, taking advantage of the mountainous terrain, setting fortifications at strategic points, and using local materials—mostly built from bluestone and clay. Although they have endured over 2,000 years of wind and rain erosion, the main structures remain relatively intact. Wandering through the undulating hills and ridges, it’s not hard to imagine the majestic presence the Qi Great Wall once had.
