Butterfly Valley Village is situated on the northwest dipping fault of Mount Yuwang, at the foot of the Qi Great Wall ruins. The area boasts unique natural landscapes—including striking mountains, tranquil valleys, sheer cliffs, ancient paths, dense forests, and clear springs—as well as rich historical and cultural remains, creating an ideal location where nature and heritage blend harmoniously. The village is distributed from east to west along the canyon and mountain ridges. Traditional houses are built on the slopes on both sides of the river valley, with the core protected area located in the middle section of the village.

Most new constructions in Butterfly Valley Village are located at the eastern and western ends of the village, and their architectural style largely matches that of the old village. The water system belongs to the upper reaches of Shigou River. Three valleys to the south of the village—Bao Valley, Old Valley, and Black Valley—all have springs. These springs converge at “Knife Mountain” to form a stream that flows east–west through the village before joining the Xiaofu River 13 kilometers to the east. In recent years, several ponds and dams have been built to promote tourism. The river features cascading waterfalls and flowing streams, attracting many visitors and making it a great destination for enjoying blue skies and clear waters.
