King Yu Mountain

King Yu Mountain is the main peak of Yuan Mountain. It is commonly known as King Yu Mountain because there is a King Yu Temple built on its summit. It is located about 1,000 meters west of Lingxi Village in the Development Zone. The *Yanshen Town Annals* records: "The Wen River flows westward, and the Zi River flows eastward, both originating here." Zhao Zhishen's *Examination of Yuan Mountain* states: "More than ten li to the west of the town, there lies a great mountain stretching across, a prominent landmark for the region. It comes from the southwest, extending nearly 200 li continuously from Mount Tai, and then rises abruptly here, towering, majestic, and beautiful... Upon closer examination and detailed investigation, it turns out to be the so-called Yuan Mountain." Yuan Mountain stretches across Zibo City, Laiwu City, and Zhangqiu City, covering an area of approximately 150 square kilometers. "Snow Accumulation on Yu Mountain" is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yanshen.

The peak of King Yu Mountain is lofty, majestic, and steep. The average temperature here is about 5°C lower than that of Boshan urban area, making it a great summer retreat. The southwestern part of King Yu Mountain mainly consists of ancient metamorphic rocks from the Paleozoic era, while the northeastern part is composed of Cambrian limestone and shale. Over 90% of the area is covered with vegetation, featuring major tree species such as honey locust, oriental arborvitae, maple, and pine. Economic trees include cherry, flat peach, Chinese toon, and Sichuan pepper. Medicinal plants found here include pinellia ternata, honeysuckle, bupleurum, and adenophora.
