Nanwanshan Ancient Kiln Site
The Nanwanshan Ancient Kiln Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.
The Nanwanshan Ancient Kiln Site is located on the ridge land to the west and south of Nanwanshan Village, Baita Town, Boshan District, Zibo City. It dates back to the Jin and Yuan dynasties.
The Nanwanshan Ancient Kiln Site covers an area of 35,000 square meters. Three remnants of kilns have been discovered at the site, each with a diameter of about 2 meters. Scattered across the area are numerous fragments of white-glazed, black-glazed, and underglaze white-and-black painted ceramics, as well as broken kiln tools. The body material is mainly white, with some red and gray. Artifacts include bowls, basins, plates, jars, and bottles. The shapes and craftsmanship of the artifacts show distinct Yuan dynasty characteristics, indicating that this kiln site flourished mainly during the Yuan dynasty. It was designated as a municipal-level key cultural heritage protection unit in 1984.
On December 7, 2006, the Nanwanshan Ancient Kiln Site was announced by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the third batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Shandong.
