Five Dragon Pool

Five Dragon Pool, also known as Black Dragon Pool, was historically called Clear Pool. Covering an area of 2,313 square meters and reaching a depth of 7 meters, it is collectively referred to as the "Five Dragon Pool Spring Group" along with over twenty surrounding springs. According to *A Brief Study of Jinan’s Scenic Historical Sites*, “The pool is unfathomably deep. In times of drought, prayers for rain here have always been answered… People revered it and worshipped the dragon gods of the five directions, hence the name Five Dragon Pool.” In the past, there was the “Five Dragon Palace Shrine,” also known as “Dragon Auspicious Temple” or “Deep Green Palace,” where the dragon gods of the five directions were worshipped, but it later collapsed. The pool features natural, untrimmed banks lined with lush weeping willows. To the north and east of the pool are stacked rockeries, atop which stands the “Profound Silence Pavilion.” To the west of the pool is the Scholars’ Pavilion, from which visitors can view the koi fish in the pool. Former Residence of Qin Qiong: Qin Qiong, courtesy name Shubao, was a native of Jinan and a renowned general in the early Tang Dynasty. He served as the Left Martial Guard General and was granted the title of Duke of Hu State. It is said that after achieving prominence, he built his residence at Five Dragon Pool. Today, a stone tablet inscribed with “Former Residence of Qin Shubao, Duke of Hu State and Left Martial Guard General of the Tang Dynasty” remains on site.

Zhijinshi Subdistrict: Zhijinshi Subdistrict is located in the southeastern part of Tianqiao District, adjacent to the bustling Quancheng Road commercial street.
