Taiwan’s most anticipated winter festival — the New Taipei City Christmasland — is set to open in grand style on November 15th！ This year (2019), the Christmasland is themed “Christmas Magic City” and will shine brightly across New Taipei City for 48 days from November 15th to January 1st.
This year’s New Taipei City Christmasland has set three new records compared to previous editions:
1. The world’s first dual-tower and single-tree laser light show:
For the first time, the Banqiao Railway Station building and the New Taipei City Government building are integrated, featuring Taiwan’s twin towers along with a large Christmas tree in the square. With 12 sets of lasers, it brings the Christmas spirit to all Taiwanese people as they welcome 2020.
2. The largest projection area for a main light display in history:
Including the Christmas tree in the Civic Square, the City Government building, and the Banqiao Railway Station building, the total projection area reaches 8,800 square meters, setting a new record for the largest projection area in the history of the New Taipei City Christmasland.
3. A record-high of 8 popular photo-friendly pedestrian overpasses:
These are super photo spots, featuring light decorations on the pedestrian bridges around the City Government area. The number has expanded from 5 in previous years to 8 this year, connecting the entire Xinzhuang Special District. The 8 overpasses surrounding the City Government each have their own unique features, marking a new historical high.

Main Light Area: The Twin-Tower Christmas Tree Illuminating Santa Bear’s Magic Town
The biggest highlight of this year’s New Taipei Christmasland is the integration of the Civic Square Christmas tree main light and the projection mapping on the facade of the City Government building with the laser light show on the southern exterior wall of Banqiao Railway Station. Together, they create an audiovisual experience featuring both the twin towers and the single tree. A Singaporean light art technology team collaborated with local content creators from Taiwan to project Santa Bear, who casts magic, and the Cube Bear family onto the exterior wall of the New Taipei City Government Building, launching a spectacular magical adventure.

Station Front Square Light Zone: Step Into a Magic Forest and Meet Your Favorite Cartoon Characters！
Located in the Station Front Square of Banqiao Railway Station, the New Taipei Magic Forest Light Zone blends landscape and local cultural elements into art. Led by an artist who won an Italian design award, the team — skilled in hand-drawing, illustration, and structural art — created several outdoor light installation artworks. Inspired by New Taipei’s mountain forests, gold mine ranges, and street imagery, the illuminated artistic scenes highlighted by dazzling lights are a must-shoot highlight of this year’s Christmasland.
In addition, also located in the front square, the forest mini train on the lawn is one of the most beloved free rides for children during Christmas Town every year.

Every year at Christmas Town, the Wanping Park Light Zone invites the cartoon characters most loved by children. The wildly popular Kanahei’s little animals, making their free outdoor public debut from Japan, will appear in Wanping Park, driving both kids and adults wild!
This year, there are a total of six exclusive Kanahei Dreamland installation artworks, as well as a super dreamy dining area, filled with pink-hued light displays, waiting for fans of Kanahei’s little animals to check in. After the Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Opening Show on Fri, Nov 15, exciting series of events will take place every week. The first program, 【Kids’ Fun Carnival】, will be held at Civic Square on Sat, Nov 16 – Sun, Nov 17, featuring more than ten popular cartoon characters taking turns to appear.
