Hsinchu Tung Blossom Trail and Pedestrian Bridge Opened to the Public; Hakka Tung Blossom Festival Begins on the 25th

The 2015 Hakka Tung Blossom Festival launched at Hsinchu City’s Gaofeng Botanical Garden on the 25th. The newly completed construction projects, including the hiking trail entrance on Baoshan Road in Shiba Jian Mountain and the pedestrian bridge at Gaofeng Botanical Garden, as well as the “Hsinchu City Tung Blossom Trail Project,” were also inaugurated on the 22nd. These improvements offer a safer and more convenient experience for visitors traveling between Gaofeng Botanical Garden and Shiba Jian Mountain.

The Hsinchu Civil Affairs Office stated that the two projects—the Hsinchu Tung Blossom Trail and the pedestrian bridge—include a bridge spanning Baoshan Road from Shiba Jian Mountain to Gaofeng Botanical Garden, along with a landscape platform, nighttime lighting, and public restrooms. They also expressed gratitude to the Council of Hakka Affairs for subsidizing the installation of the Tung Blossom Plaza, Tung Blossom Trail, tea-serving pavilion, historic battlefield plaza, and the Hakka cultural and botanical ecological guided tour interpretation system.

The Civil Affairs Office noted that this year’s Hakka Tung Blossom Festival will take place from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM on the 25th at Gaofeng Botanical Garden. The event will showcase the beauty of tung blossoms through calligraphy, literature, tea ceremonies, flower arrangements, and musical performances. The first 1,500 citizens participating in the blossom-viewing hike will receive Hakka tea snacks or ground tea packets, as well as a Hakka tung blossom watercolor art souvenir created by local artist Cheng Zhenwen.

Transportation: Free shuttle buses will be available from Houbu Train Station and Jianhua Junior High School from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the day of the event, running every 15–20 minutes.
