Tianjin Hongqiao District Children's Palace
The Tianjin Hongqiao District Children's Palace serves as a science education base.
Built in 1985, the Tianjin Hongqiao District Children's Palace features a 100-square-meter planetarium and a 500-square-meter observation platform, making it a national-level science education base. The planetarium is equipped with a domestically produced S-10 star projector and stereo sound system, surrounded by astronomical photo exhibitions, and includes a 120-type astronomical telescope capable of tracking, observing, and photography, as well as four Bao Hulu telescopes, a “Meade” telescope, a Sirius telescope, a projector, laptop computers, slide projectors, scanners, and more. In recent years, the Children's Palace has added imported Japanese “Takahashi” telescopes and projectors on top of the existing facilities, further enhancing the quality of planetarium shows and outdoor observations.
For many years, the Children's Palace has focused on astronomical observation as its specialty, extending its reach to primary and secondary school students across the district. It organizes public science outreach activities, science lectures, planetarium shows, astronomy observation events, and competitions. Examples include the “Science Hundred Schools Tour and Community Tour” initiative across all district schools, science lecture tours, science knowledge exhibitions and screenings, and science skills workshops—all achieving positive results.
