The Pingjin Campaign Memorial Hall is a specialized memorial hall built in Tianjin under the decision of the CPC Central Committee to fully showcase the great victory of the Pingjin Campaign. On August 23, 1994, the 67th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Politburo of the CPC Central Committee decided to construct the Pingjin Campaign Memorial Hall in Tianjin and assigned the Beijing Military Region to lead the project in collaboration with Beijing and Tianjin municipalities. The foundation was laid on November 29, 1995, and the memorial hall was completed and opened to the public on July 23, 1997.

The main exhibition building of the memorial hall is a three-story structure standing 22 meters tall, majestic and upright. Its warm gray granite facade features a simple design that is both traditionally Chinese and aesthetically modern. The grand archway-style lintel above the entrance is inlaid with the seven gilded Chinese characters “Pingjin Campaign Memorial Hall,” personally inscribed by Marshal Nie Rongzhen during his lifetime, with his signature located in the lower right corner. A granite staircase over 40 meters wide guides visitors into the exhibition halls. The main exhibition area has a total display line of 740 linear meters, divided into six sections: Preface Hall, Campaign Decision, Campaign Implementation, People’s Support, Great Victory, and Martyrs’ Achievements. It displays over 400 historical photographs, more than 2,000 cultural relics, as well as auxiliary exhibits including multimedia presentations, electric sand tables, restored historical sites, dioramas, sculptures, and paintings.
