The Changqing Wolongyu Eco-Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The Wolongyu Eco-Scenic Area is located in Wandetown, Changqing County, 50 kilometers from Jinan City, covering an area of over 6,000 acres. It is a municipal-level forest park, bordered by Mount Tai to the south, Lingyan Temple to the north, and situated just 500 meters west of National Highway 104. It lies on Shandong Province’s “Mountains, Waters and Sages” golden tourist route.

The Wolongyu Scenic Area nestles at the foot of the Qi Great Wall and features stunning natural landscapes. Its valleys are deep and crisscrossed, scattered with peculiar pines and unusual rocks. Surrounded by steep peaks and cliffs, the area is richly vegetated and evergreen all year round, with streams, waterfalls, and pools flowing continuously. Venturing deeper into the forest, you’ll find precious medicinal herbs such as ginseng, polygonum multiflorum, scutellaria baicalensis, and ganoderma.

The Wolongyu Scenic Area is divided into five major zones: the Guide Zone, Pioneer Zone, Main Zone, Core Zone, and the Great Wall Ridge Zone, along with thirteen sub-areas including Ancient Stone Forest, Julong (Gathering Dragon), Qianlong (Hidden Dragon), Dragon-Phoenix Valley, Qilin Valley, and Forest Bathing Area. It is a comprehensive tourist destination offering sightseeing, leisure, vacationing, and dining.

Wolongyu is a pristine ecological paradise full of wild mountain charm, characterized by its high elevation, untouched nature, flowing waters, abundant rocks and pines, and long valleys. The scenic area features deep, interwoven valleys that often evoke the feeling of “finding a new village after a seemingly endless mountain path,” naturally providing visitors with a sense of mystery and seclusion, as well as the tranquility of a hidden utopia. The front section of the scenic area boasts prominent landforms and open spaces, with grotesque rocks and unique pines on both sides of the mountains. The central area is dotted with lakes and marshes arranged in an orderly fashion, creating distinct landscape layers. The clear streams, Wolongyu Cloud Pavilion, and cascading waterfalls flow year-round, with the sound of mountain springs resembling a grand symphony that inspires awe and excitement. From Qinglong Pool to Julong Residence lies a winding, tranquil mountain valley path, with each scenic segment offering its own unique wonder. The rear section of the scenic area, extending from Julong Residence, features a radial layout of hills, hiking trails (ridgelines), and valleys. The terminal point of the scenic area is the mountaintop section of the Qi Great Wall, which undulates majestically, exuding a timeless grandeur. The ridges and pine forests merge seamlessly with the wall. East and west elements complement each other, allowing visitors to climb to the summit for panoramic views and moments of historical reflection. The natural ecological environment remains entirely unspoiled, filled with wild mountain beauty, forming a harmonious landscape painting.

The Wolongyu Eco-Scenic Area was developed and constructed with investment from Changqing County Telecom United Company, and its overall planning and design were undertaken by the Jinan Tourism Architecture Design and Research Institute. Currently, parts of the scenic area have been developed according to the plan.

Travel Tips

Transportation Information: Take a taxi from Lingyan Temple and drive south along National Highway 104 for about 20 minutes to reach the scenic area.

Tourist Shuttle: Take a bus heading to Tai’an and get off at Diantai Village or Wolongyu Station.

Self-Driving Directions: Take G3 Expressway — exit at Wandetown — head south on National Highway 104 — cross Pijia Store Bridge — arrive at Changqing Wolongyu Eco-Tourism Area. It takes approximately 30 minutes by car from the expressway exit to the scenic area.
