Tomorrow marks the 44th World Earth Day. To celebrate the occasion, this afternoon, three universities in Jinan jointly organized a low-carbon bicycle riding event to encourage citizens to care about environmental protection, start with themselves, and opt for low-carbon travel.
It is understood that this event was co-organized by the College of Population, Resources and Environment at Shandong Normal University, the Oasis Society of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Environmental Protection Association of Shandong Institute of Light Industry, with the support of the Changqing District Environmental Protection Bureau. The theme of the event was “Environmental Pioneers, Endless Joy in Cycling, Low-Carbon Travel.” In recent years, with economic and social development, environmental protection has received increasing attention, and college students’ awareness of environmental issues has also grown. As a result, the number of participants exceeded the organizers’ expectations, with over 400 university students from the three aforementioned institutions taking part.
According to the cycling route designed by the organizers, the bicycle fleet composed of more than 400 student volunteers first circled around the Changqing Campus of Shandong Normal University to promote environmental protection concepts through action. Along the way, when passing through commercial streets and other crowded areas, they distributed flyers and environmental handbooks. Upon arriving in the urban area of Changqing, they held a speech and signature activity at Qingyueyuan Square.
