Tianjin Wuqing Yongding River Old Course National Wetland Park is located in Huangzhuang Subdistrict, Wuqing District. It stretches from the junction sluice of Longfeng River and the canal in the east, to the Nama Yangshui Station on the southern side of the Yongding River in the south, to the confluence of the Yongding River and the Yongding New River in the west, and to the Dongzhou Yangshui Station sluice in the north. The area mainly includes the old courses of Longfeng River and Yongding River, as well as the artificial wetlands on both banks, covering a total area of 249 hectares.

The wetland park has a relatively intact ecosystem, playing important ecological roles such as expanding and improving habitats for wild waterfowl, enhancing the living environment for urban residents, and providing relatively clean water sources for downstream areas. Ci Weishun, head of the Dahuangpu Wetland National Nature Reserve Management Office, introduced that the wetland is home to 11 species of mammals from 6 families across 4 orders; 94 species of birds from 28 families across 11 orders; 12 species of amphibians and reptiles from 7 families across 4 orders; 25 species of fish from 9 families across 5 orders; 102 species of insects from 47 families across 8 orders; 13 species of plankton; and 35 species of benthic animals. Among them, there are 18 species of nationally protected birds, including two Class I protected species—the golden eagle and the great bustard—and 16 Class II protected species such as the pallid harrier, Eurasian sparrowhawk, kite, and little stint.
