Tianjin Wenchang Pavilion
Tianjin Wenchang Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.
Introduction Located in Yangliuqing Town by the South Canal in Xiqing District. Originally built in the fourth year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1576). The pavilion enshrines the God of Literature (Kui Xing). It was burned down in the second year of the Tianqi reign (1622) and rebuilt in the seventh year of the Chongzhen reign (1635). It was destroyed again in the third year of the Xianfeng reign (1853) and reconstructed in the eighth year of the Xianfeng reign (1858). It is a brick-and-wood structure, three stories high, hexagonal in shape, and stands 15 meters tall. The roof features six ridges covered with tiles, each topped with a dragon head holding a ridge, and a spherical jewel at the center — an ingenious design. Six eaves corners are adorned with wind chimes. With red beams and dark tiles, the chiming of the bells in the wind makes it a scenic highlight along the canal.
