Black pottery is a crystallization of ancient Chinese culture and art, emerging during the Longshan Culture of China's late Neolithic period around 2500 BCE. These purely handcrafted black pottery items are characterized by being black, thin, and shiny. Produced through processes such as hand-throwing, manual polishing, carving, and firing in kilns, black pottery products are hard and lustrous, with a fine clay texture and innovative patterns. They can display hues of purple, indigo, and silver under different lighting, earning the reputation of being “as black as lacquer and as shiny as jade.”

Black pottery products made in Wuqing District, Tianjin, won the first prize at the 21st Travel Products Trade Fair in Guangzhou in 1987 and the Top Ten Products Award at the Tianma Travel Products Trade Fair in Beijing in 1992. The factory’s products are exported to countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, as well as regions including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, and have received high praise from customers both domestically and abroad.
