Shutangyu Village is located in the southern part of Shuangquan Township, Changqing District, Jinan City. The village features a beautiful ecological environment and abundant forest and fruit resources, with a total of 120,000 trees of various fruits and nuts including cherries, walnuts, spring sprouts, persimmons, and Chinese prickly ash. The area covered by fruit and nut trees has reached 2,000 mu. The Nanyu Valley in the village extends as deep as 6 kilometers, flanked by towering green mountains covered with lush vegetation. The valley is dotted with patches of apricot, peach, walnut, hawthorn, and cherry trees. At the southern end of the valley lies a century-old walnut grove. On the mountains on both sides of Shutangyu, there is a magical spring eye on each. On the western Ren tou Mountain, there is the “One Gulp Dry” spring, which doesn’t have a strong flow but seems as if one could drink it all dry in one gulp. However, it flows continuously year-round without ever drying up. There are also other springs such as the gurgling “Flowing Gold Spring” and “Prosperity Spring.”

Among the forest and fruit resources in Shutangyu, cherries are the most prominent. Cherry cultivation has a history of over 100 years, and the planted area has now expanded to more than 3,000 mu. Visitors can enjoy leisure fishing at the pond dam in the western part of the village and experience the fun of nature. The village has over 10 agritainment restaurants where visitors can take part in farm work, enjoy home-cooked meals, and experience the joy of rural labor. By the end of 2011, Shutangyu Village was named a Shandong Provincial Characteristic Tourism Village.

Featured Landscapes: “Jiajiagou, Wanghualou, at Labading’s top stands a little human head.” The “Jiajiagou” mentioned in this nursery rhyme actually refers to Shutangyu. Originally, this mountain valley was called “Chucangyu” (Storage Valley), and was later renamed “Shutangyu” (Study Valley). Shutangyu can be described as a treasure valley, home to fruit trees such as apricot, peach, walnut, hawthorn, and cherry, which bloom continuously all year round and bear abundant fruit. This valley provides villagers with a rich harvest, almost like a storage room for the local people, hence the original name Storage Valley. However, to prevent such a precious valley from being taken away, it was later renamed to the more scholarly-sounding “Shutangyu.”

Self-driving Guide:

Take the Jihe Expressway, exit at Xiaoli, then drive 7 kilometers east along Fuyan Road. Turn north at Beifu and drive 6 kilometers south along Xuanliu Road. Head west at the Shutangyu intersection to reach the destination. The driving time from the expressway exit to the destination is approximately 15 minutes. Major turns include the Beifu intersection.
