Xiaolu Spring

Xiaolu Spring is located beneath the rocky cliffs on the northeast side of Jijiayu Village in Zhangxia Town. As one of the eight scenic spots outside Lingyan Temple, it was first built during the Ming Dynasty, with water that flows year-round. The spring is a natural cave facing west, measuring 1.8 meters in height, 3 meters in depth, and 2 meters in width. Spring water gushes out from cracks in the mountain cliffs and flows into a stone well, which is surrounded by a constructed stone cave. Above the cave grows a thousand-year-old cypress tree, registered as a notable ancient tree in Changqing. Green vines twine around the lush, verdant cypress, with the tree and vines depending on and complementing each other, growing vigorously and beautifully. The tree has a unique shape, creating a spectacular scene. Outside the cave, there is a rectangular reservoir where spring water flows in through an underground channel from the cave. A stone stele inscribed with "Xiaolu Spring" stands beside the spring pool. Above the cave sits a traditional northern-style square pavilion with four corners. Standing inside the pavilion, you can see scattered farmhouses and wisps of cooking smoke in the distance, creating a fairyland-like atmosphere. Willow trees grow densely around the spring pool, and the thousand-year-old cypress above adds to the natural and ancient charm of the water. The entire spring area nestles against the mountain and stream, with a winding and natural layout, forming a serene and secluded paradise. It is one of Jinan’s New 72 Famous Springs.
