The Qilu No. 8 Scenic Route is a premium tourism corridor and a key rural development project meticulously planned by the Wan De Town Committee and Government in accordance with provincial and municipal “Focus Strategy” directives and the initiative to build beautiful countryside. Situated between the Spring City Jinan and Mount Tai, the eastern sacred mountain, the route connects to the provincial capital Jinan in the north—serving as Jinan’s southern gateway—and borders Tai’an. It encompasses Lingyan Temple, ranked first among China’s “Four Great Buddhist Temples” and a national 4A-level scenic area. The “One Line, Six Villages” of the No. 8 Scenic Route stretch 12.5 kilometers from Bashan Village (adjacent to Licheng District), passing through Machang, Yuhuangmiao, Zhangzhuang, Fangzhuang, to Matao Village. The area boasts a superior natural environment with distinct four seasons, an 80% forest coverage rate, beautiful scenery, and abundant local produce. Walnuts, chestnuts, persimmons, and unique Tai Shan rocks are found throughout the mountains, serving as important economic resources for local farmers.

The No. 8 Scenic Route lies among the six villages along its path, offering an ecological environment like a natural oxygen bar. Ancient villages, old wells, historic streets, stone cottages, remnants of the Qi Great Wall, Motian Ridge, Fenghuang Ridge, and legendary sites such as the Eight Immortals Stone, Wu Daoren Hermitage, and Seven Gods Hall are all part of the landscape. Traditional customs, pristine regional features, cultural landscapes, and deep historical roots all highlight the natural beauty of the western Tai Shan foothills and the cultural spirit of Qilu. The No. 8 Scenic Route is a beautiful journey for urban visitors to appreciate mountain and water scenery and experience authentic folk culture.
