Beidashan Park

Beidashan Park is located on Beidashan Mountain in Changqing District. The mountain stands at an elevation of 225 meters. On November 19, 1931, Xu Zhimo was flying from Nanjing to Beijing aboard the "Jinan" postal aircraft when, due to adverse weather conditions, the plane passed through this area and crashed into the mountain, resulting in his death. On the mountain, there is a stone tablet inscribed with "Xu Zhimo Memorial Park" as well as a memorial erected by his hometown of Haining.

In earlier years, the renowned poet and leading figure of the Crescent Moon Society, Xu Zhimo, had a deep connection with Jinan: he once accompanied Rabindranath Tagore during his visit to Jinan and also went boating on Daming Lake with writer Wang Tongzhao. On November 19, 1931, Xu Zhimo died in a plane crash on Beidashan Mountain in the southwestern suburbs of Jinan while aboard the "Jinan" aircraft, marking the end of this famous poet’s life in this very place.

This Beidashan Mountain is situated west of Kaishan Village in Guyunhu Subdistrict, Changqing, and east of Shandong University of Art and Design. In March 2006, the Beijing-based Poetry Magazine and the Changqing District Government held a memorial event for Xu Zhimo at Kaishan and unveiled the memorial stele for "Xu Zhimo Memorial Park."
