In October 2001, to build a modern civilized garden city, the Nanchang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government launched an ecological environmental protection project and a people-benefiting project in Qingshan Lake — the renovation project of the Qingshan Lake Scenic Area. The main construction goals were: intercepting sewage, dredging silt, replacing with fresh water, regulating water systems, greening lake shores, beautifying landscapes, brightening night scenes, placing utility lines underground, making walls green, beautifying buildings, connecting roads into loops, enhancing lake beauty, and bringing joy to people. Currently, Qingshan Lake has initially formed a basic scenic area framework. Three major theme parks have been successively built: Xiangsillin Park opened to welcome visitors on April 2, 2000; Lakeside Park and Yanming Island Park...

...are under construction and will unveil their beautiful scenery to tourists on May 12, 2000. In addition, the existing Qingshan Lake Amusement Park, Urban Pastoral (Fishing Club), the Provincial Children and Youth Activity Center, as well as recently implemented projects such as the auction of Qingshan Lake water recreation and entertainment operation rights, lakeside road sightseeing, and tour route operation rights, will surely make the Qingshan Lake Scenic Area a place with crystal-clear waters, beautiful lake shores, elegant style, a top tourist destination, and a precious urban gem — a wonderland that rivals West Lake by day and shines like a rainbow by night, captivating visitors who linger happily and locals who rejoice in its beauty.
