Aixi Lake Forest Wetland Park

Aixi Lake Wetland Park is the only typical urban natural wetland in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. Located on the eastern shore of Aixi Lake in the High-Tech Development Zone, it covers an area of over 2,500 acres, stretching from Chengdong 1st Road in the north to Beijing East Road in the south, from Changdi Road in the east to the eastern embankment of Aixi Lake in the west, and adjacent to the 4.5-square-kilometer Aixi Lake.

Since construction began in September 2007, the park has planted over 50,000 trees, more than 40,000 bamboo poles, 600,000 square meters of lawn, and built over 30 islands. Plans include planting over 160 tree species, with more than 120 varieties already planted—such as wild jujube, bitter lacquer tree, wintersweet, Chinese redbud, metasequoia, pond cypress, and small steel bamboo.

Once completed, the park will gradually connect with Tianxiang Garden Migratory Bird Park to form part of the Poyang Lake migratory bird corridor. Together with the 4.5-square-kilometer Aixi Lake and the 2,500-acre land area, it will create a natural, three-dimensional forest-wetland system, becoming Nanchang’s second “green lung” after Meiling.

In 2009, the government continued to improve park facilities, meticulously planning each scenic area and carefully crafting every attraction. Projects included building a central square, a golf driving range, a meteorological science park, a forest museum, and a forest oxygen bar—transforming the site into an ecological paradise where gulls and egrets fly freely and an educational base for research. Once fully completed, the park will be lush and flowery year-round, alive with birdsong and captivating to visitors.

1. Take bus 602 to Vanke Parking Lot, then walk around Aixi Lake and turn right at Heyuan residential area. 2. Take bus 5 to the terminal, then transfer to bus 803 and get off at the Aixi Lake East Road intersection to enter the park directly through the north gate.
