Shengshuitang Forest Park
Shengshuitang Forest Park is located in Chengzishu Village, Xinmin Township, Anyi County, and is a provincial-level forest park. It is 17 kilometers away from downtown Anyi and is adjacent to attractions such as Baofo Temple in Jing’an and Zhenru Temple on Yunshan Mountain in Jiujiang. The park is embraced by two national forest parks — Meiling and Sanzhaolun — with direct road access, making it a scenic area that integrates religious, ecological, and sightseeing tourism.
Shengshuitang Forest Park features overlapping mountains and lush forests, with a forest coverage rate of 96% and a total area of 22,500 mu. Its highest peak reaches an elevation of 410 meters. Blessed with a pleasant climate, it is praised as the "Little Lushan Mountain." The park is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, and was approved as a "Provincial Forest Park" by the provincial forestry department in 1999.
Shengshuitang is situated atop a mountain 1,500 meters northeast of Xingcun Village, Xinmin Township, Anyi County, Jiangxi Province. Initially built during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era (1573–1621), it covers an area of approximately 4,600 square meters. Oriented east to west, the site has an irregular rectangular shape and includes a temple, a heavenly pool, a stele pavilion, and is enclosed by perimeter walls.
In front of the temple lies a heavenly pool that neither overflows nor dries up throughout the seasons. It is home to four-legged, red-bellied dragon fish. The pool water was honored as “Sacred Water” by the imperial court during the Qing Dynasty. The four-legged, red-bellied dragon fish in the pool were once bestowed an imperial title by Empress Dowager Cixi, who also granted a plaque inscribed with the words “Dragon Peace and Blessing.” The railing around Shengshuitang was commissioned in the eighth year of Emperor Tongzhi’s reign during the Qing Dynasty, constructed from granite, and remains well-preserved to this day. To the south of the heavenly pool stands a stele pavilion, established during the Tongzhi era, which still houses five stone tablets. These tablets document the memorials submitted by Governor-General Zeng Guofan of the Two Jiangs and Governor Liu Kunyi of Jiangxi, as well as the facts of the Empress Dowager’s imperial decree and the granting of the plaque.
Shengshuitang boasts a long history, rich cultural content, and high historical value.
