Introduction:

The Liu Clan Ancestral Hall is situated in Jingtai Natural Village, Jingtai Village Committee, Shibi Town, Anyi County, Jiangxi Province. Originally constructed in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty, it faces south and occupies an area of 666 square meters. It has a flush-gable roof with a post-and-lintel structure, a depth of two and a half bays, a width of 12.45 meters, and a depth of 33.35 meters. The main gate of the hall is a "eight-character gate," with a large wooden plaque hanging directly above, inscribed with five gilded characters reading "Jingtai Liu Clan Ancestral Hall." Inside, there are 121 uniformly thick and neatly arranged pillars. The central hall displays a prominent, gold-gleaming circular relief plaque with raised characters reading "Dun Ben Tang" (Hall of Upholding Origins). A long couplet hangs on the main pillar of the central hall, inscribed by Liu Fen, a Qing Dynasty imperial examination graduate, former imperial censor of Zhejiang Circuit, and court advisor (of the fourth-rank official level), who was a descendant of the Liu family. The couplet reads: "The way of Yao and Shun is nothing but loyalty and forbearance; the rites of ancestral temples are not merely about silk and jade."

The Liu Clan Ancestral Hall is a typical and well-preserved representative of traditional Jiangnan-style clan ancestral architecture. Its layout is rational, the structure rigorous, and the wooden carvings inside are rich and vivid. The murals painted between the pillars and beams are also well-maintained, making it of significant historical value for the study of ancestral hall architectural art.
