Introduction:

Luotian, Shuinan, and Jingtai Ancient Villages are located in Luotian Village, Shuinan Village, and Jingtai Village, Shibi Town, Anyi County, Jiangxi Province. The Luotian villagers are surnamed Huang and are said to be descendants of the Flame Emperor. In the first year of the Guangming era (880 AD), during the late Tang Dynasty, when Huang Chao’s rebel army was active in the regions of Hubei and Shaanxi, in order to escape the chaos, Huang Kechang from Luotian, Qizhou, Hubei, left his homeland and migrated southward to settle on this land. To ensure that future generations would not forget their ancestral home, he named the place “Luotian” after his hometown. To date, it has a history of 1,200 years. The ancient Luotian village had a strict management system with a well-preserved layout, featuring four gates to the east, west, south, and north. Internally, villagers lived in designated areas based on their ten major clan lineages (by blood relations), with houses built in an orderly fashion. Jingtai Village has a history of over 1,300 years. According to the Liu family genealogy, the Liu villagers are descendants of Liu Xiang, a Western Han scholar and scholar-official known as the Zhonglei Doctor.

Luotian Village: Luotian Village is located 12 kilometers southwest of Dayou Township, Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province. The area features overlapping mountains and terrain that slopes from south to north.

It has a history of 1,200 years. The entire village is populated by the Huang surname, said to be descendants of the Flame Emperor. To avoid war during the Guangming era of the late Tang Dynasty, they migrated from Qizhou, Hubei, to this location. A local folk rhyme goes: “Tiny Anyi County, but the Huangs of Luotian are grand.” This shows the great reputation of the Huang family of Luotian. The village was once a necessary stop for pilgrims traveling to the Xishan Wanshou Palace to worship the Deity Xu Xun, hence shops stood shoulder to shoulder and merchants gathered, marking a time of great prosperity.
