Luotian Youshan Private Residence

Luotian Youshan Private Residence is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

Luotian Youshan Private Residence is located in Luotian Village, Shibei Town, Anyi County, and was built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. The original owner, Huang Lanfang, styled Youshan, was a selected scholar (Bajiao) during the Tongzhi reign. He served successively as a professor or educational officer in counties and prefectures such as Wannian, Yichun, and Jiujiang in Jiangxi Province. In the early years of the Republic of China, he was the magistrate of Yichun County and later became a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Assembly. The building faces south and is a courtyard-style complex. It consists of the main house, auxiliary buildings, front courtyard, and backyard.

In March 2018, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites in Jiangxi Province.

Luotian Village: Luotian Village is located 12 kilometers southwest of Dayou Township, Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province. The area features overlapping mountains, with terrain sloping from south to north.

It has a history of twelve hundred years. The entire village is surnamed Huang, said to be descendants of Emperor Zhu Rong. To escape war during the late Tang Dynasty’s Guangming era, they migrated here from Qizhou, Hubei. A folk rhyme goes: “Tiny Anyi County, mighty Luotian Huangs,” showing the prominence of the Huang family of Luotian. The village was once a necessary stop for pilgrims traveling to Xishan Wanshou Palace to worship Deity Xu Xun, leading to bustling shops and thriving commerce.
