Jiangling Terraces

Jiangling in the northeast corner of Wuyuan County is the flagship attraction of Wuyuan, and when people refer to Wuyuan’s rapeseed flowers, they usually mean those here. The vast fields of rapeseed flowers spread out across the mountains in terraced layers, cascading from the mountaintops down to the valleys, offering a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the layered terraced fields. Jiangling has a total of four viewing platforms, and the second one features a small footpath where you can capture the terraced rapeseed fields and ancient villages from different angles. At the foot of Jiangling Mountain, you can take a minivan or motorbike taxi up to the viewing platforms at the top.

At an altitude of one thousand meters, the terraces wind like chains and ribbons, layered and staggered in height; the water reflects the blue sky and ancient trees. Nestled in the mountain hollows below the terraces is a small cluster of pink-walled, black-tiled houses that look exceptionally gentle and inviting. This is representative of Wuyuan’s pastoral scenery. Starting from Jiangling, the road winds continuously through the mountains. Looking down from Jiangling, you can see the layered terraces, the winding lines, the small river in the valley basin, the three or four villages gathered along the riverbanks, and the surrounding green mountains — together forming an exquisitely beautiful rural landscape painting of Wuyuan. The mountain-top houses serve as the grand backdrop to the Jiangling scenery, with pink walls and black tiles tucked among yellow flowers and green trees, while drifting clouds bring a dreamlike, heavenly feel.

Xitou Township: Located in the northeastern frontier of Wuyuan, Jiangxi, Xitou Township borders Xiuning County of Anhui Province to the northeast, lies close to Huangshan Mountain, neighbors Jiangwan Town—the hometown of a great leader—to the south, and connects with Duanxin Township to the northwest. Covering an area of 122 square kilometers, it governs 8 village committees and 53 natural villages, with a total population of 12,000.

Xitou Township boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters. Its government seat, Xiaxi Village, is known for its reputation of “little bridges over flowing streams and quaint houses.” The area features overlapping mountains, lush greenery, and the Wuxi River and Duanxin Waterways running throughout. Mountains account for 97% of the township’s area, with a forest coverage rate of 87%. It is also home to Wuyuan’s largest power station—the Gangkou Power Station.
