Guling Golden Lotus Tea
Guling Golden Lotus Tea is a specialty of Guling County in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Historically known as the "Eight Hundred Li Golden Lotus Plain," Guling County is abundant in distinctive agricultural products such as golden lotus flowers, truffles, and wild mountain vegetables. In particular, the golden lotus flower has medicinal properties that help clear heat, relieve summer heat, reduce inflammation in the throat, and beautify the skin. It is a high-value traditional Chinese medicinal herb exported from China.
Guling Saiwai Specialty Co., Ltd., under the guidance of medical experts, developed a scientific formula incorporating Ophiopogon japonicus, lotus seed core, rock sugar, and tea leaves, creating the “Jinglian Brand” series of health teas. These teas are sold in over 20 provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, and Zhangjiakou. The product has won multiple awards such as “Hebei Province Famous and High-Quality Agricultural Product Award,” “Hebei Province Consumer Trusted Product,” and recognition as an enterprise with a well-known trademark in Hebei Province. In October 2011, the “Jinglian Brand” Golden Lotus Tea from Guling County won a gold award at the Agricultural Expo of the 9th China International Agricultural Products Trade Fair — the only enterprise in China’s golden lotus industry to receive this top honor, and one of only two agricultural products from the city to win a gold award.
Golden lotus flowers possess significant medicinal, economic, and ecological value, and are widely used in health care, beauty, floriculture, and environmental protection. In recent years, the wild population of golden lotus has been declining year by year, while market demand has continued to rise. However, due to the flower’s poor regenerative capacity and low natural survival rate, large-scale cultivation and promotion have been limited. To address this, the golden lotus seedling breeding base of Guling Saiwai Specialty Co., Ltd. has actively explored artificial cultivation. After years of dedicated research and practice, the company has overcome challenges posed by temperature variations, humidity, soil conditions, and other factors, mastering seed treatment techniques such as room-temperature dry storage and low-temperature processing to break dormancy. This year, using a 1-acre greenhouse, the company successfully cultivated 100,000 golden lotus seedlings, which were then transplanted into a 20-acre planting area. These are mainly used for tourism viewing and seed production.
