Dashan Mountain, also known as "Santianzi Zhang Mountain," is situated at the boundary between Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. It acts as the northern shield of Wuyuan in Shangrao, Jiangxi, and belongs to the extension of Huangshan Mountain. The area is embraced by mountains and dotted with peaks, featuring a forest coverage rate as high as 90.7%. Mountain heights range between 800 and 1,600 meters, and the main peak, Leigujian, soars to 1,629.8 meters, standing imposingly and looking down upon the flatlands—it is the highest peak in the county. Additionally, the mountain is often shrouded in clouds and mist, giving visitors the sensation of walking through a fairyland. Major attractions include Wolong Valley. The now-developed Zhangshan Grand Canyon—Wolong Valley—is a high-mountain valley scenic area of unique landscape value and completely pristine beauty, often described as an earthly paradise akin to those depicted in Jin Yong’s novels.

The mountain is often enveloped in clouds and mist, making visitors feel as if they are wandering through a celestial realm. The area features lush forests, rugged rocks, crisscrossing streams, and spectacular waterfalls that cascade like silver rivers. The Ming Dynasty Huizhou official Wang Xun, who served as the Tongpan of Shuntian Prefecture, wrote in his poem “Climbing Dashan Mountain”: “On Qingfeng Ridge, my eyes are opened wide; before Leigujian Peak, I count the nine lands. Stretching 300 li across Huizhou and Rao, it divides the sources of Wu and Chu. White clouds have feet that unite heaven and earth; distant waters lie still, with sun and moon afloat. Who recognizes its true original face? The weather shifts unpredictably—when will it ever cease?” Dashan Mountain’s main peak, Leigujian, rises 1,630 meters above sea level and is the highest peak in Jiangxi Province. Its shape is like a sword piercing the sky, perpetually veiled in clouds and mist. The ecological environment here is pure and pristine, making it a key production area for the famous “Wulv” green tea. In 2003, a mysterious and well-preserved high-mountain valley scenic area—“Wolong Valley”—was developed. This valley is exceptionally deep and quiet, with steep cliffs and rocky walls along its banks. As the canyon winds upward, it forms tiered waterfalls. The valley’s streams rush violently, echoing loudly through the gorge. The gushing springs flow through massive granite rocks, and after millions of years of erosion, have formed numerous deep pools and colorful ponds, hidden within the primeval secondary forests.

Bus

1. You can take a direct bus from the North Bus Station in the county town to Wolong Valley Scenic Area (around 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM; departure times may vary by season, so it's best to check at the station in advance; these times are for reference only). Around 3:00 PM, there is usually a bus returning from the scenic area to Wuyuan.

2. You can first take a bus from the North Station to Qinghua, then transfer to a taxi or motorbike taxi to reach the scenic area. Also, there are more frequent return buses to the county town, departing every 20 minutes from 6:30 AM to 5:40 PM.

Chartered Vehicle

If traveling in a group, it is recommended to charter a vehicle. Prices vary depending on the type of car and can be negotiated. However, during Golden Week holidays, chartered vehicles are in high demand and prices may rise by 30%–50%. If no cars are available, you can also charter a farm vehicle, which typically seats four people, though the price won’t be cheaper than a van.
