Wangkou is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Guide: The ancient village of Wangkou was first built during the Daguan era by Yu Gao, an official of the Song Dynasty’s Council of State (equivalent to the third rank), and has a history of over 1,100 years. It earned the name “Wangkou” (meaning “fronted by vast waters”) because of the expansive water in front of the village.

Introduction:

Wangkou is located 30 kilometers northeast of the county seat and covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters. Nearly all wooden components in the ancestral hall are adorned with carvings, featuring over a hundred sets of various patterns. The carving techniques include shallow relief, deep relief, openwork, and round carving — delicate, intricate, exquisitely crafted, and uniquely styled, earning praise from ancient architecture experts as a “treasury of carving art.” The structure of the ancestral hall is grand and imposing, with the main hall reaching three stories high. The bracket arms are carved with dignified figures, and the moon beams feature simple, classic designs. In this ancient hall, the annual ancestor worship ceremony is still held. The ceremony follows the highest-level “Zhou Rites” used in traditional rites. During peak tourist seasons, scheduled live performances are held in the hall.

Wangkou Village: The Wangkou administrative village is under the jurisdiction of Jiangwan Town, Wuyuan County, situated between 117°56′18.29″E to 118°1′50.16″E longitude and 29°19′1.95″N to 29°22′51.61″N latitude. The village office is located in Wangkou Village, covering an area of 4.5 square kilometers. It is 8 kilometers from Jiangwan Town, 23 kilometers from the county seat, 84 kilometers from Jingdezhen, and 101 kilometers from Huangshan City, Anhui Province. The Xi-Wuyuan Highway, Jing-Wuyuan-Huang Expressway, and Beijing-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway run through the area, making transportation very convenient.
