• Late November to mid-November each year is the best time to admire the maple leaves and photograph morning mist, making it a paradise for photography enthusiasts.

Shicheng refers to a mountain, also known as Shicheng Mountain, at the foot of which lies the Lingyan National Forest Park. There are two villages on the mountain: Cheng Village and Dai Village. The one traversed by an ancient bluestone path running through the entire village is called Dai Village, while the one with its classic white-walled, black-tiled houses faintly visible through the mist is Cheng Village. The two villages are separated by a small hill, both backed by ancient maples, yet each with its own unique charm. Cheng Village is embraced by ancient maple trees on three sides, with a small limestone hill on the fourth. Morning mist hangs halfway up the trees, mingling with the smoke from kitchen chimneys, creating a dreamlike scene that is highly favored by photographers. Spring in Shicheng is also quite enchanting, especially when the thousand-year-old magnolia trees are in full bloom, offering a spectacular sight.

By Car

Exit the highway at the Wuyuan North exit, then drive in the direction of Qinghua Town. After passing Qinghua, continue toward Dabuzhan Mountain. It takes less than an hour to reach Shicheng Village. On the way from Qinghua to Dabuzhan, you’ll pass Jujing Village, where you can stop for half an hour to climb a small hill and take in a panoramic view of Jujing (known as China’s roundest village). Then continue to the fork in the road — the left leads to Shicheng.

Public Transport

For independent travelers, it is recommended to take a bus from Wuyuan to Lingyan Cave and get off at the fork in the road, then take a local minivan or motorcycle to Shicheng.
