Zhenggong Mountain Village is the starting point for hiking to Likeng. The scenery is nice, but since there’s no road access, driving here is not recommended. Zhenggong Mountain and Chatanping are back-to-back villages, both under the jurisdiction of Fengshan Village Committee in Zheyuan. The village has about twenty households. Due to the lack of road access, most homes are still made of earthen materials. According to villagers, there is only one brick house in the entire village—the rest are all earthen structures. Even the ones that appear white have only had lime applied to the earthen walls for moisture protection. There are no signs of artificial modification anywhere in the village; everything remains as it has been shaped by daily life. Red walls, black tiles, and bluestone-paved paths... People work at sunrise and rest at sunset. The villagers live their lives much as they have for thousands of years in China. Were it not for the occasional modern item, this place might seem frozen in time from many, many years ago.
